A marathon in Tuy Hoa of Phu Yen province on March 29 is expected to gather a record 12,000 athletes, who will compete in the fourth consecutive event to be sponsored by Saigon Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Corporation (SABECO).
The Tien Phong Marathon 2024 and related events are a tribute to Dien Cape, which welcomes Vietnam's first rays of sunlight each morning, and will also involve a flag-raising ceremony.
A series of activities will begin on March 29, including visiting border posts and Dien Cape lighthouses, presenting national flags to fishermen, and visiting war veterans.
The flag-raising ceremony in honour of the national flag will take place on the morning of March 30 at Mon Beach.
For the fourth consecutive year, SABECO is collaborating with Tien Phong newspaper to continue promoting a positive, healthy lifestyle as well as promoting scenic landscapes and indigenous cultural beauty across the country. This year, up to 60 SABECO and Saigon Beer Central South Company employees have registered to participate across various distances.
Continuing its support for the marathon this year reaffirms SABECO's commitment to contributing to the country and promoting the beauty of local culture, contributing to the development of tourism, and further enhancing the physical health of the Vietnamese people.
Dinh Nguyen Thi Huong, SABECO's director of corporate communications, shared, "In Vietnam, there are many running events, but what makes the this marathon special is that it is not just a national-level event. It is also a historical story, a bond, and a reminder for Vietnamese people to be proud of what our ancestors have done. We have a responsibility, as well as that of the younger generation, to remember and maintain those good traditions.”
In recent times, community activities and collaborative efforts to support the sports spirit of SABECO have contributed to encouraging community health as well as enhancing perseverance and endurance to help the younger generation overcome challenges, building tangible values for both physical and mental health to develop the nation.
"We are committed to providing the best value and promoting the beauty of local culture, contributing to tourism development," emphasised Huong.
With efforts to build a healthy and positive lifestyle, the journey of SABECO will continue to advance with even more contributions to the development of the community and the national sports scene, she added.
