From Net Zero Commitment to Concrete Actions in Manufacturing
Vietnam is entering a new phase of development, targeting sustained double-digit economic growth to narrow development gaps, raise incomes, expand industrialization, and move closer to becoming a high-income economy. However, accelerated growth also brings significantly higher energy demand. Against this backdrop, advances in technology, renewable energy, and resource management are creating opportunities for manufacturers to sustain growth while steadily reducing their environmental footprint.
According to SABECO's latest Sustainability Report, the company achieved notable progress in advancing its Net Zero ambitions in 2025. Specifically, 46.4% of the total energy consumed across its breweries came from renewable sources, moving closer to its target of 50% by 2030. SABECO's rooftop solar systems also helped reduce approximately 5,661 tonnes of CO₂e emissions while generating around VND 13.3 billion in electricity cost savings.
These results demonstrate that SABECO views its green transformation not only as an environmental responsibility but also as an opportunity to improve operational efficiency, optimize manufacturing processes, and strengthen its long-term competitive advantage.
A Net Zero Journey Beyond Carbon Reduction
With a network of 26 breweries spanning the country, SABECO is among Vietnam's largest beverage manufacturers. As such, its efforts to improve resource efficiency and minimize environmental impact have the potential to create positive ripple effects across the broader industry.
Beyond its emissions reduction achievements, SABECO's 2025 Sustainability Report also highlights significant progress in resource management and sustainable operations. Compared with 2023, the company reduced its water-use intensity by 7%, while 100% of wastewater was treated to regulatory standards before discharge. Meanwhile, its water collection, reuse, and recycling rate reached 6.1%.
At the same time, SABECO's shift from a traditional "waste treatment" mindset to a broader resource management approach helped increase the proportion of waste that was reused or recycled to 81.4%, while reducing waste sent to landfill by 44.3% compared with 2023.
Through these sustained efforts, SABECO has maintained its position as a sustainability leader in Vietnam, earning recognition in the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) Program for three consecutive years. More recently, at the Vietnam World Energy and Environment Forum 2026 held on July 8, SABECO was honored with the "Green Enterprise - Net Zero Action 2026" award.
Mr. Larry Lee, Deputy General Director of SABECO, shared:
"Over the next 10 to 20 years, Vietnam will enter an important period of transformation, and SABECO will contribute to that journey. We will continue to modernize our operations, enhance processes, develop our people, strengthen our product portfolio, and pursue responsible growth alongside the country's development. Our vision is to remain a part of Vietnamese people's everyday lives while making meaningful contributions to the nation's sustainable future."
By building on a strong foundation of operational excellence and sustainability, SABECO remains committed to creating long-term value for its stakeholders while supporting Vietnam's transition toward a greener and more sustainable economy.
