FIRST EVER INTERNATIONAL 7-A-SIDE BIA SAIGON CUP CHAMPIONSHIP 2022 KICK STARTS ON 23 TO 25 DEC 2022 IN HANOI

The year 2022 marks an important milestone to 7-a-side football format in Vietnam with the support of main sponsor. Bia Saigon, a brand of the Saigon Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Corporation (SABECO),   Vietnam Premier League or now known as Bia Saigon Cup 2022 (abbreviated as VPL-S3) returned last June with bigger league, expanded from 2 cities to 5 cities : Hanoi, Dak Lak, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho.

The league completed with a great success with the finals held in Hanoi last September, where the league has received outpouring of love and support from all football lovers in Vietnam. The intense final match between ECO and Dat Tin has notably registered a record number of attendance as well as spectators via live streaming and broadcast. The success of this league is attributed to the  professional organization, investment, and careful preparations of all participating teams across all the 5 cities. The support and cooperation from the Vietnam Sports Administration, Vietnam Football Federation, Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the community as well as accompanying sponsors have given the nationwide the opportunity to witness the intense impact of football on our society.

Following the success of this league, Vietfootball together with Bia Saigon as the main sponsor has taken a step forward to organize the first ever International Seven-A-Side Bia Saigon Cup 2022 Football Championship from 23-25 December 2022 in Hanoi.  This marks desire to elevate the Seven-A-side football format both in Vietnam and international with the aim for longer term development of football as well as the creation of sustainable values for communities. 

This first International Seven-A-Side Bia Saigon Cup 2022 Championship will kick start with 4 football teams representing Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. This championship will help to promote Vietnam’s unique football format by creating opportunity for 7-a-side teams in Southeast Asia to compete, play and exchange knowledge, while bringing the best Vietnamese football culture to the region and the world.

Mr. Pham Ngoc Tuan – Head of the Organizing Committee shared that: “The recent Bia Saigon Cup 2022 completed with a great success.  This is 7-A-Side competition system at the national level which we have received various support from many parties. Through the success, VietFootball is setting a new goal to organize International 7-A-Side football championship annually. Apart from introducing Vietnam’s unique football format, we hope that this format will become better known, accepted, and popularized in Southeast Asia and eventually all of Asia, contributing to the organization of similar football leagues”.

Being held for the first time, the competition received full support from the Vietnam Football Federation, national football federations as well as the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), as this championship create a breakthrough to promote the development of this football format in Southeast Asia.
