IMPROVING COMPETITIVENESS OF TALENTED YOUTH IN RURAL AREAS

Having contributed positively to local socioeconomic development, 42 young farmers and nine rural youth startup projects have just been honoured at the 2023 National Youth Festival by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) organised with the companionship of Saigon Beer - Alcohol - Beverage JSC (SABECO).

Comrade Ngo Van Cuong, Secretary of the HCYU Central Committee and Ms. Venus Teoh Kim Wei, Deputy General Director of SABECO, presented awards to individuals who won the 2023 Luong Dinh Cua Award

At the 2023 National Rural Youth Festival on November 13 in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang, 42 young farmers received the Luong Dinh Cua Award for their outstanding achievements in business, entrepreneurship, and production, contributing to creating numerous jobs and boosting socioeconomic development.

Nine excellent projects from the 2023 Rural Youth Startup Project competition were also named and honoured.

Nguyen Thi Thu Van, a representative of HCYU, said that the Luong Dinh Cua Award this year received 77 applications. Of these, there were five cases with a total annual income of VND100-500 million ($4,200-21,100), 17 with a total of VND500 million - 2 billion ($21,100-84,400), 30 reaching VND2-10 billion ($84,400-422,000), and 25 more that topped that figure.

These young people's businesses have created regular jobs for 1,031 full-time staff and 1,258 seasonal workers.

As an annual event organised by the HCYU since 2014, the National Rural Youth Festival included exhibitions, discussions, and honours. It was also a chance for young people doing business in rural areas to discuss and connect with each other, as well as with leading experts from various sectors.

This is the third consecutive year that SABECO has accompanied the HCYU to communicate positive examples of strong youth leadership in the industrialisation and modernisation of agriculture in rural areas, contributing to the National strategic goals on new rural development for the 2021-2025 period.

In August and September, SABECO and the HCYU also trained 300 young people who were planning to or had just started a business, aiming to improve their competitiveness, enable potential projects to develop more rapidly, generate economic value, and create jobs for the local workforce.

Contributing to the country's socioeconomic development is one of SABECO's commitments within its three-year strategic cooperation with the HCYU. Over the last two years, more than 500 young people have participated in entrepreneurship training programmes, and 75 outstanding cases have been honoured with Luong Dinh Cua Awards.

In addition, SABECO has joined forces with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to implement an initiative to support Vietnamese athletes, improving their achievements at both regional and international levels.

SABECO's journey of building a confident and brave generation to manage and promote the country's development is continuing at pace. The business has committed to sustainable development with its 4C strategy, involving Country - Culture - Consumption - Conservation, to enhance Vietnam's brand position and contribute the best value to the nation.
