SABECO SUPPORTS ITS EMPLOYEES, THEIR FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES AFFECTED BY TYPHOON YAGI

October 10, 2024 – The Saigon Beer-Alcohol- Beverage Corporation has announced more than 7.9 billion VND contributed to support employees, their families and the communities who were severely affected by Typhoon Yagi.

In the immediate aftermath of Typhoon Yagi, SABECO worked with the Trade Union to call for voluntary contributions from employees to help fellow colleagues deal with personal losses. SABECO also pledged to match all collections on a 1-for 1 basis. This initiative received an overwhelmingly positive response from employees.

SABECO's employee helped deliver reliefs in Lao Cai Province

At the end of the donation drive, more than 1.68 billion VND was donated by employees and the company contributed a further 1.68 billion VND to match the donated amount. Additionally, the SABECO Labor Union and associated companies donated a further 141 million VND to bring the total of all donations to more than 3.5 billion VND.

The funds raised have been directly distributed to affected employees and their families to help them quickly stabilize their lives.

Updates on community support activities

In addition to helping our staff, SABECO, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, local authorities, media, and business partners, also launched a support program for the provinces of Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, and Yen Bai. The total value of support amounted to over 4,2 billion VND. This included essential goods and food for flood-affected residents, as well as financial support for front-line workers in each province participating in post-storm recovery. The program also allocated support to more than 200 SABECO customers who suffered significant losses due to the storm.

In addition, SABECO also made further contribution to the Fund for Emergency Aid raised by the Vietnam Fatherland Front with total amount of 200 million VND.

The representatives of SABECO and the HCM Central Youth Union visited a local family in Yen Bai's flood-hit area. 

Through all activities, SABECO’s total financial and material support for the Typhoon Yagi relief efforts totaled more than 7.9 billion VND. In addition, our staff also worked with partners to distribute essential supplies to employees, customers and the community.

Speaking about the post-Typhoon Yagi relief efforts, Mr. Lester Tan, CEO of SABECO, stated: “We were saddened to hear of the losses faced by communities in the path of Typhoon Yagi and took immediate actions to try to help our fellow colleagues as well as others in need.
